I can't make heads or tails of it, but reader Jack wrote in saying
"Jorge Cortell has been totally discredited in Spain after spanish bloggers found out that his entire CV is fake.
He does not even have a bachelor's degree, let alone a doctorate." Cortell, the Spanish professor who
claims to have been fired for advocating file sharing,
and whose former employers seemed to be up to something funny, may have taken part in some funny business of his own.
From what I can tell, Cortell has been accused of faking much of his Curriculum Vitae, including listing degrees from a
few "degree mills".
The Cortell Fraud
(
Babelfish) is a Spanish blog which is keeping track of developments, but if anybody can find some English news
source it might help in making sense of this whole debacle.
P2P professor a fraud?

(Page 1)2. Read all sources, and decide for yourself. I have posted several entries and sources of info on my weblog (new and old). My CV is NOT fake, and all entries have links from where you can check for yourself (I have received phonecalls from my teachers at Oxford and Harvard telling me some people are checking that I did study there, so there is someone trying to find the smallest crack in my CV to try to discredit me, and all they found is that Brantridge is not an accredited university outside Hawaii... fine! What about the rest of my CV, but most importantly: what about my ideas, lectures, and the fact that the university censured me and forced me to resign because, among others the MPAA?). Some organisations are trying to divert the focus of the issue, trying to discredit me. Do not let them manipulate you.

1. Most of what is claimed in those fraud websites is just bullshits.
I'm not defending this guy, 'cause he's not a saint, but it's true that he was fired because of the incident in the UPV. I study there, i was in the conference. I know people who work in the UPV and i know people who were students of this guy.
Altho the truth is that he wasn't fired, but they forced him to resign.
Cya~~
