Musician Sheryl Crow happens to be the VP of
the Recording Artists' Coalition, and recently made a statement on behalf of said artists with regard to the Grokster
case, which you can read in its entirety courtesy of
liveDaily. Most of it is regurgitated from the past five years or so of RIAA press releases, but this bit stuck out
at me: "[P2P systems] can and should incorporate filters to prevent the illegal downloading of copyrighted
material" (emphasis mine). Does Sheryl Crow have a software engineering degree that she's been hiding from us all this
time? 'Cause I'm sure there's a lot of computer scientists out there who would love to see this magic filtering
algorithm she's talking about.
Sheryl Crow knows how to eliminate piracy

3.
Just as our parents lost their jobs to computers, just as our grandparents lost their jobs to robots, just as their parents lost their jobs to machines, the record company employees have three options, re-train, retire, or shutup. It is no different now than it was hundreds of years ago.
Does Sheril Crow realize that if all of her albums were sold by her own company for $3 per copy, in digital form or not, she would be more than doubling her income!
Tear down the record stores and build schools and retirement homes.
The natural progression of technology cannot be stopped.

1. Quite interesting that she states the following in her statement.
"How about the people who create the CD and DVD artwork and photography? What about the people who work in the plants that manufacture the CDs and DVDs or the people who work in music stores. Their livelihoods depend on people paying for the music that is created. If these people are not paid, how do they pay their rent and the utility bills?"
Is it me or will these people lose their jobs anyway as more music is sold online?
